"The authors were both great. The children were very excited to meet them and they were a real wow factor for our Book Week. Leyland and David (Satchell) both carried out well prepared talks which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Leyland's 'Butt glue' reference went down a storm and the children still giggle about it now. AUTHOR VISIT: Barnstaple Library22/10/2013 I am more than happy to recommend Leyland as a visiting author. We were recently fortunate enough to have a visit by Leyland Perree, to our Foundation Class. The children listened intently to his reading of ‘The Great Reef Race’ and thoroughly enjoyed the story. Leyland arrived punctually and behaved professionally throughout, interacting in a friendly and appropriate manner. Leyland answered questions and responded to comments, making good use of ICT. When asked if he could read our then current big book ‘The Owl Babies’, he happily agreed. The visit was a very positive experience for the class and we look forward to future visits. I am writing to confirm that Leyland Perree visited Ernesettle Community School in December 2012. Leyland was an immediate hit with all of the children within our Key Stage One classes and they loved the story. As a school we invested in some of the books for our class library and they are still a favourite choice today. Beechwood and Oakwood Primary Schools had the pleasure of a visit from Leyland Perree this Spring (2013) as part of our book week celebrations. Leyland visited individual classes across KS1 and KS2 tailoring each presentation to the audience and ensuring that the children were fully engaged. |
